like what i posted on fb,
im feeling very lost over my sudden freedom.
so many things to do, so much time!
which one do i start off with first?!
but im not complaining (:

dont know if you guys have been reading the reports abt the whole chinese and english thingy.
ive so much to say.
im totally for teaching chinese with english in the beginning when the situation calls for it, eg: dont understand a single word of chinese. english will be useful in this case. but because both are very different, it is rather silly to think that chinese can be taught using english thruout.
and what is with "our kids are not interested in chinese"?
bah. not true.
learning chinese through memorizing can be helpful.
as you'd all have prolly known by now, the classes i taught in the previous school were very very weak in chinese.
so memorizing lines was the way to go.
make it fun, and they will do it. (and if they dont, erm, force them, they will thank you for it in the future.)
you've no idea how happy they are when they can manage one or two paragraphs during exams. do it a few more times, and they will begin to see the "pattern" of the language.
see, it makes both of us happy (:
the problem doesnt lie with the system nor the language nor the kids.
it's how you teach. and how they learn.
*scoots off to think of interesting ways*
